The Little Book that Could
When Paul Lima came to me with his book, How to Write a Non-fiction Book in 60 Days, I thought sure, why not, although I must admit to some skepticism that the book would do well. With literally tens of thousands of books out there on the craft of writing, written by people with far more public profile than Paul (sorry, Paul, but it’s hard to compete with the likes of Stephen King et al), I quite understandably thought we’d sell a few copies, but it would, if nothing else, allow Five Rivers an opportunity to dip our toes into the deep end of publishing.
I am happy to announce that yesterday, albeit very briefly, How to Write a Non-fiction Book in 60 Days, hit #1 in its category in Amazon’s UK ratings. This morning I see it’s slipped to #3, and sits at 46,292 overall. I’m sure you’re thinking 46,292, that isn’t even close to best-seller. You’re correct. It’s not close to best-seller. But it is classified a very good performer according to Aaron Shepard, author of Aiming at Amazon, somewhat of an indie publishing guru.
In Canada, Paul’s book is at #21 in its category on Amazon. Statistics for Amazon US weren’t available at the time I wrote this. Having said that, How to Write a Non-fiction Book in 60 Days is currently on sale at Chapters at a 25% discount, if you’re shopping in Canada.
What is Paul’s book about? Quite simply How To Write A Non-Fiction Book In 60 Days will show you how to use your time productively to brainstorm all you need to know about your subject matter, to organize your thoughts and to outline your book before you write. And it will show you how to write effectively and efficiently from outline point to outline point, until you complete a solid first draft of your book – in 60 working days.
