This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.

I reviewed this book as part of Librarything’s Early Reviewer Program.

This is one of the most unique pieces of fiction that I have ever read. It reads very much like a memoir and is exceptionally well-written and easy to read. The suthor uses her extensive knowledge of psychology to craft a compelling story about a woman’s lifelong struggle with depression.

I’m so glad that I had the opportunity to read this book, which gave me great insight into many of the possible manifestations of depression. The author was able to weave together common themes and stresses (broken families, suicide attempts, postpartum depression) that sufferers experience in their lives, thereby educating while entertaining.

A very good debut work by Alicia Hendley. ( )
