Closed to submissions until July 1, 2013

I never thought the day would come I’d say we have an embarrassment of riches and would have to close our doors to submissions. That’s exactly what’s happening.

As of today, Five Rivers Publishing will not consider any new proposals or submissions until July 1, 2013. This does not apply to any submissions currently in-house. For those of you who are in the midst of contract negotiations, or who have work waiting to be vetted by our editors, you’re safe. For those who were considering sending us a proposal or submission, I’m sorry but you’ll either have to wait until July 1, 2013, or find another publisher to consider your work.

At the moment Five Rivers sits with 34 books under contract; that is, books presently signed but not yet published. That doesn’t include the 21 books in our catalogue.

It’s been an amazing journey so far, from our humble beginnings in 2008 when we released two books (And the Angels Sang, and Shadow Song) to now. This year has been a pivotal year so far, with some stellar books published, many by debut authors, some by recognizable and beloved names.

We’ve expanded our distribution, continue to explore new avenues, new formats, trying to stay nimble and on the crest of the exciting developments occurring in publishing.

There is more amazing ahead. There are days I am so excited I feel like a kid on Christmas morning. And there are days I think I’ve gone absolutely insane. Mostly it feels like magic.

So, until July 1, 2013, keeping writing, keep honing, and perhaps we’ll hear from you on the other side.
