Two Glowing LibraryThing Reviews for A Subtle Thing
I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to other readers. I found the ending to be sad but perfect at the same time. I identified with Beth. I wonder how many other readers will do so as well. ( )
A Subtle Thing was an excellent novelization of what it’s like to go through severe bouts of major depression.
Since the author is a clinical psychologist, everything in the book felt extremely authentic and accurate to what actually happens to those suffering from recurrent depression.
This novel was more narrative than, say, Prozac Nation (a favorite book of mine), which I thought was really interesting and engaging.
I connected with this book and found it encouraging because of it. I am glad to have read it. I was surprised at how quickly I finished reading it as well. Overall, I found this to be an excellent, authentic read, and I am grateful to the author for her having written it. ( )
