Tweaking and Twiddling
I finished writing the Afterword for From Mountains of Ice early this morning, and have basically put to bed the formatting and layout. So very pleased with two graphics I developed for chapter headers and section breaks; I think they lend themselves very well to the overall theme of the book, and hope they will add to the reading experience.
It’s my opinion the layout of a book should be a work of art, just as should the literature, and with From Mountains of Ice I’m striving more and more toward that end, so that you, the reader, will feel comfortable about my books becoming part of your personal library.
While not engaged with these final stages of this new novel, I’ve been working on promotion for Five Rivers’ books. Paul Lima’s book, How to Write a Non-fiction Book in 60 Days, is doing very well indeed in Canada, the US and the UK.
Deb Salisbury’s book, Elephant’s Breath & London Smoke: Historical Names, Uses & Definitions, also continues to sell briskly across the continent and the UK.
I’m hoping to receive a manuscript from an Ottawa author next month, what is proposed to be an anthology of mainstream fiction. Very much hoping that comes through, because I’ve long been an admirer and supporter of this particular author’s work, one, I might add, who took two Toronto Star short story awards when that newspaper held their Great Canadian Short Story Contest back in the 1990s.
I’ve also been working on the following promotion:
