An amazing indie bookstore, featuring Avians

Foyer at Elizabeth Campbell Books

One of the quirky, defiantly independent bookstores carrying Five Rivers’ books is Elizabeth Campbell Books in Kenora, Ontario, specifically Timothy Gwyn’s Avians..

Elizabeth Campbell

Elizabeth Campbell Books opened in July of 1991 as an indie book shop, but when Walmart came to town a few years later, Elizabeth Campbell realized she needed to adapt to survive. She decided Walmart probably would never get into used books, so she began building a collection that now exceeds a selection of 50,000 titles. Elizabeth limits the shop’s new stock to regional interest and remainders, and do special orders for those who feel uncomfortable ordering online themselves. As you can see from the photo of their foyer, Elizabeth also teamed up with a local antiques dealer (they share the space), and together they’re building a wonderful collection of original art by regional artists.

You can learn more from Elizabeth Campbell Books’ website’s about page.

One of the features from Five Rivers’ catalogue at Elizabeth Campbell Books is Timothy Gwyn’s amazing YA SF, AviansIf you’re in the Kenora area, and want to visit a delightful shop, and pick up a copy of Avians while you’re there, and maybe score that unforgettable antique, or local, original art, certainly Elizabeth Campbell Books will give you an unforgettable experience.
